  • Mike Schofield

Chief Schofield joined La Vista Police Department in May of 2024.  He’s a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He began his law enforcement career in 1990 with the at Platte County Sheriff’s Department. In 1992, he transferred to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department where he retired, after 32 years as a Major.  

He has experience in many areas of policing including patrol, investigations, and administration.  He holds an Executive MBA from Benedictine College and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School.  He also completed the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award in 2024.

He is an advocate of data-drive, and intelligence led policing models.

 

Criminal Investigations Bureau CommanderCaptain Armbrust

  • Todd M. Armbrust

Todd M. Armbrust was promoted to Police Captain in February 2019. Captain Armbrust has over 32 years of policing experience, the past 29 years in La Vista.

Todd began his policing career in 1993 with the Kirksville (MO) Police Department. He served as a police officer until March of 1996 when he began his career in La Vista.

Captain Armbrust has held positions in the Uniform Patrol Bureau, Special Enforcement Bureau and Criminal Investigations Bureau. He has performed the duties of patrolman, field training officer, drug recognition expert, SWAT Operator, SWAT Team Leader, and Assistant SWAT Team Commander.  He retired from SWAT on December 31, 2024.  As a Sergeant, Armbrust served as a patrol supervisor and as the supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Bureau. While supervising CIB, Armbrust served as a member of the Omaha Metro Fugitive Task Force and as a member of the FBI’s Sex Exploitation Task Force.

Captain Armbrust is a graduate of Truman State University (Missouri).  He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy (278), Northwestern University School of Police Supervision, IACP Leadership in Police Organizations program, and the Creighton University Supervisory Leadership Program.

Responsibilities

The Operations Support Bureau Captain is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Police Records Unit and the Property and Evidence Unit.  The Operations Support Bureau Captain also oversees department training and budget.
